EXPANDING SPACE

Sited on a steep slope, this lovely new home in historic Annapolis features a natural stone retaining wall designed to increase the property’s useable flat space and accommodate a larger patio. A ring of flowering trees provides privacy. A well-placed fountain draws attention to the setting’s backdrop, a peaceful view of Spa Creek. Groupings of ornamental shrubs separate the patio from the home’s rear entrance and a line of evergreen trees screen the driveway from the neighboring house. A small front garden was designed to be simple yet elegant. Existing trees were saved wherever possible, and a harmonious blend of native plants and ornamental species were selected to provide year-round color and seasonal interest.
